Online Therapy for LGBTQ+ and Neurodivergent Adults and Teens (15+) in Texas, Colorado & Michigan

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) · LGBTQ+ and Trans Affirming

Provider Identification & Licensure

I am Ashley Taylor (she/they), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and the owner of Ashley Taylor Counseling, PLLC. I am licensed to practice in Texas, Colorado, and Michigan.

I provide online therapy by video or phone to people located in Texas, Colorado, or Michigan. I do not offer in-person sessions. My practice is private pay, and I am in network with Aetna through Headway.

Primary Fit Anchor

Who this work is designed to support

I work with adults, especially LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent adults, and their partners, who are dealing with anxiety, ADHD, or a major identity or relationship transition.

  • Individual therapy is especially suited to adults dealing with anxiety, ADHD, identity exploration, or a major life transition. It is also available for teens ages 15 and up.

  • Relational therapy is for couples, polyamorous and ethically non-monogamous (ENM) relationships, and families working through communication problems, disconnection, recurring patterns, or change.

  • Group therapy is available for trans women and trans femmes, and for adults going through divorce or separation.

Many of my clients are queer or trans. Many were diagnosed with ADHD as adults. Others are coming out in their 30s, 40s, 50s or later, exploring gender transition, or going through a separation or divorce. I am a queer therapist with ADHD. My practice is LGBTQ+ and trans affirming, and poly and kink knowledgeable.

Strong Fit Contexts

When this approach may be a good match

This work is often a good fit if you:

  • Are LGBTQ+, questioning, or neurodivergent and want a queer therapist whose practice is LGBTQ+ and trans affirming

  • Have anxiety that shows up as overthinking, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or avoidance more than panic

  • Have ADHD and want support that works with your brain, not against it

  • Are in a transition: coming out, gender transition, separation or divorce, or a change in your relationship

  • Want a collaborative therapist who uses curiosity and humor and gives you practical tools to use between sessions

Not the Right Fit

When a different level or style of support may be more helpful

This practice provides scheduled outpatient therapy, not crisis or emergency care. This may not be the best fit if you:

  • Are in crisis or need a higher level of care, such as intensive outpatient (IOP), partial hospitalization (PHP), inpatient, or 24/7 support

  • Need ADHD testing, a formal diagnostic evaluation, or medication management

  • Need in-person sessions

  • Are located outside Texas, Colorado, or Michigan

  • Are under 15

  • Need insurance-based care outside of Aetna

If this isn't the right fit right now, a different level or type of support may be more helpful at this stage. If you're unsure, a free 30-minute consultation is a chance to talk it through before starting therapy.

Therapeutic Approach & Style:

AEDP, Family Systems, ACT, and Person-Centered Therapy

My work is strength-based, relational, and LGBTQ+ and trans affirming. My two primary methods are Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and Family Systems therapy. I also use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-Centered therapy, and mindfulness.

  • Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) for anxiety and the emotions underneath it. AEDP helps you feel and work through the emotions that anxiety may be protecting you from.

  • Family Systems therapy for relationship and family patterns. Family Systems therapy looks at the patterns between you and the people in your life, so no one person is treated as the problem. I use it in individual and relational therapy.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for anxious thoughts, overthinking, and perfectionism. ACT helps you step back from those thoughts and act on what matters to you.

  • Person-Centered therapy for identity exploration. Person-Centered therapy follows your pace and your goals, with no set outcome.

ADHD therapy is neurodivergent-affirming. It focuses on systems and supports that fit your brain, emotional regulation tools, and the shame and unrealistic expectations that often come with ADHD.

Support for coming out later in life moves at your pace. It includes working through feelings, practicing hard conversations, and deciding what you want your relationships to look like.
